Fire safety & warning

As a user of this Community Association ensure that YOU are aware of your nearest Emergency Exit and alternate exit route.
In the event of discovery of a fire or emergency that requires evacuation:
Activate the Alarm
In an orderly fashion, leave the building by the nearest safe Emergency Exit.
Go to Assembly Point –
Car Park near Clothes Bank,
keeping access clear for Fire Service.
Report to your organiser/responsible person/WADCA staff member on duty.
Remain outside until a competent person announces it is safe to re-enter.
Appendix 1 – Emergency and Evacuation Procedure Issue 1 January 2015

1 – FIRE or OTHER EMERGENCY

As a duty WADCA staff member, or Event organiser, in the event of the discovery of a fire or other emergency that requires evacuation.
Activate the Alarm.
Ensure that all persons using the facility evacuate the building in an orderly manner via the nearest safe exit and gather at the Assembly Point – Car Park near Clothes Bank, keeping clear of access for Emergency Services.
Ensure that any person suffering from a disability gets assistance to leave the building.
Ensure, as far as it does not put you at risk, that the building, its rooms and toilets are clear of people
Dial 999, to call for the Emergency Services, giving them location, including postcode, BS36 1QG, and details of the
emergency.
Try to extinguish any fire, using the appropriate extinguisher, providing it is safe for you to do so.
At the Assembly Point, check that everyone is accounted for.
On the arrival of the Emergency Services, the duty WADCA staff member/organiser must contact the Officer in
Charge to give them the relevant information.
Contact one of the WADCA Keyholders to advise of the situation
Do not allow people back into the Building until the Officer in Charge says that it is safe to do so.

2 – FIRE or OTHER EMERGENCY

As a Section or group using the WADCA facilities on a regular basis, you need to appoint one of your members to be responsible for group safety. For Sections meeting on more than one occasion during the week, this may entail several of your members being nominated.
This person(s) must be advised to the WADCA Secretary.
In the event of a fire or other emergency being discovered, ACTIVATE THE ALARM, if it has not already been activated.
The responsible person must ensure that all persons in their Section/group evacuate the building in an orderly manner, via the nearest safe exit and gather at the Assembly Point – Car Park near Clothes Bank, keeping clear of access for Emergency Services.
Ensure, as far as it does not put you at risk, that all rooms in use by you, including toilets, are clear of people.
Ensure that any person suffering from a disability gets assistance to leave the building.
